Traditionally a favourite of the older generation, because of its reputation for reliability and easy cabin access, the latest (third) incarnation of the Honda Jazz has been designed to include features - such as new styling - that will give it more appeal to the younger end of the market. However, unlike many cars, you don't get too many engines to choose from - in fact, there's only one! - but the 1.3L (petrol) engine on offer delivers a smooth - if not overly pacey - drive, even at high revs, and its gearshift is positive and precise. On the downside, the Jazz isn't the most economical car of its type, only surpassing 60mpg with the CVT (automatic) version, and its CO2 emission level isn't especially low, either, which means that company car drivers might want to avoid it. Against this slightly negative aspect of the Jazz is the fact that it's superbly equipped - all models come with DAB radio, automatic lights and wipers, Bluetooth, air-con and cruise control, while Satnav is available on the SE Nav (though it's a more expensive model than the SE).
