If economy is a big deal for you, the Fiat Punto might be just the thing. Why? Because it's highly competitively priced, and boasts impressively low running costs. The 1.3L Multijet diesel, for example, will give you 80.7mpg and has CO2 emissions of 90g/km (no road tax!). But there are other engines to choose from, too, including petrol units, which are all pretty frugal. And the Punto has lots of other great features. True, some may think it's rather bland looking, and its handling and ride-quality aren't the best in its class, but the Punto is highly practical and has good safety credentials - in fact, even entry-level Pop models get four airbags as standard, while other models are available with side airbags. As to tech features, the entry-level Puntos (Pop) are pretty basic, offering electric front windows and remote central locking, and not a whole lot else. But upgrading to Easy trim will bring you features such as aircon, alloys, electric mirrors and a leather steering wheel. Go the whole hog, up to the Lounge models, and you'll benefit from an electric sunroof, Bluetooth, electric rear windows and foglights. In brief, a Punto may not be as fun to drive as some of its rivals, but it's competitively priced, practical and cheap to run. My Fiat punto is reliable and worth the money when bought second hand. Quite economical if you don't drive too fast and mpg ok. Not sure I would trust it long distance, but its a nice little run around. The interior is nice in my view, start and stop nice.. Read more
