The Ford Mondeo takes it's name from the Latin mundus, meaning "world", which is apt, because - now it's in its fourth generation - there can be few better-known family cars across the globe. Today, the Mondeo is not just bigger than it's ever been, but it's also more stylish, more feature-rich and more upmarket. And it has to be, because it's against some tough competition, including the Mazda 6, the Skoda Superb and the VW Passat. So, what is it about the Mondeo that appeals? There's no shortage of strong points, but one particularly impressive aspect of the Mondeo is the sheer choice of engines that the range offers. In fact, the huge selection includes petrol, diesel and hybrid options, all offering good performance. And while their economy falls short of best-in-class, they all deliver respectable fuel consumption and emission levels. The best engine in the range, in terms of efficiency, is the 1.5 TDCi Duratorq, which delivers 78.5mpg with a CO2 emission level of only 94g/km. And that's not all. The Mondeo's pretty sleek these days, too. In an effort to shed the 'Mondeo Man' image that the car had a while back, Ford has given the car a more sophisticated, aerodynamic look, which features an arching roofline, lower suspension, honeycombe grille and tinted windows. All in all, today's Mondeo is a good mix of style, space and practicality.

Ive owned my Ford Mondeo for over two years and I find it an excellent drive with loads of power when its needed. However, I have to admit that the Mondeo does struggle at low revs which means trying to overtake needs to be done with your foot right down on the pedal. The fuel consumption isnt too b. Read more

A great car to drive and no need to scrape the ice of the front windscreen - its heated! I love the auto driver seat position button - up and forwards for me, down and back for my taller hubby at the push of a buttun.
