New 2014 Peugeot 308
Peugeot has released pricing and specifications for its all new 308. The 308 is still very much aimed at the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra. Although the car itself will be slightly smaller the boffins at Peugeot have somehow managed to create more space within the cabin making it feel much roomier inside.
The striking five door hatchback is available in four different trim levels. There’s also five petrol and HDi diesel engines to choose from offering CO2 emission from as little as 93 grams per kilometre.
Peugeot has promised much improved levels of ride and handling courtesy of the improved EMP2 platform with reduced weight shorter overhangs and a lower center of gravity.
The performance version which will have the GTi badge is expected to come out the following year and rival the popular Golf GTi.
It is easy to see that Peugeot are now focussing heavily in style and quality and this is demonstrated well with the 308. The build quality wouldn’t be misplaced in a BMW 1 Series or an Audi A3.
If you’re in the market for a medium sized hatchback then you can’t really go wrong with the new Peugeot 308. Prices start at £14,495, at the time of writing, with initial delivery expected in January 2014.
Don’t have the budget?
Although the new 308 gets a thumbs up from us there are still plenty of good second hand examples of the Peugeot 308 on the market.
