Engine engine Numero 9

Citroen dont do plain cars. Some of their cars in the past could be seen as an offence to car design while some of their new models are quite inspiring and extremely easy on the eye - especially their DS range. However, what Citroen have never managed is to design a beautiful large car, until now.

Que the Citroen Numero 9 concept. The number 9 is 4930mm long and 1940mm wide. If you want a comparison in terms of size then it sits somewhere between the BMW 5-Series and 7-Series.

Ok, its just a concept car at the moment, however the Numero 9 contains many features that will make it onto the three new DS production cars that are on their way into showrooms.

There are two things that immediately stand out. The first is the bonding of a sports car-like windshield and roofline with a station wagon’s rear hatch. We couldnt tell you what family of bodystyle this car will belong to but its most likely to resemble a shooting brake. What we do know is that the marriage makes the Numero 9 look a bit like a Ferrari FF, which cant be a bad thing. Secondly, the Numero 9 is long in length and low to the ground which we think looks absolutely superb.

In the past Citroen were more known for their engineering rather than design. Many of their cars could be considered a little on the boring side in terms of design.The DS cars you see on the road today are small and medium-sized hatchbacks which has remedied this problem, giving Citroen a distinctive, contemporary style.

If Citroens future models look anything like the Numero 9 then things look very exciting indeed!
