2017 Ford Fiesta

If you’ve ever thought about buying a small car then you’ve probably considered a Ford Fiesta.

The Fiesta has been Britain’s best-selling car for a good few years now and by a considerable margin. You could say that this car has become the default choice for lots of people. The 2017 model aims to keep the same style and driver engagement that has made the Fiesta so successful but Ford has also added more quality, comfort and sophistication into the mix.

Interior

Climb inside and you’ll quickly notice that the quality has improved no end on previous Fiestas. All the materials feel high-grade, the design is simple and sophisticated and all the controls work in a really slick and precise way. You’ll love the tablet style touch screen infotainment system too because it has sharp graphics, logical menus and quick responses. Android Auto and Apple Car Play come on all but the entry level cars meaning seamless integration with your smartphone.

With regards to space, it’s pretty average when compared to other cars in its class. There’s just about enough space in the back to get a couple of adults sitting comfortably but maybe not quite a comfy as they would be in some of this car’s rivals such as the VW Polo and the Peugeot 208.

At 292 litres with the rear seats up and 1093 litres with the seats down the boot space is pretty average when compared to other superminis. The space you get is also a tad narrow so you may find yourself having to drop a seat or two if you need to carry any big luggage.

If you plan to use the Fiesta as a family car then you’ll be pleased to know that it comes with lots of clever safety aides as standard as well as some more traditional ones. There’s even cleverer safety features on the options list too.

Driving

One thing your guaranteed with the Fiesta is that they’re extremely fun to drive and this is still very much the case with the 2017 model. This car feels really agile and alert and has a really nice connected feel from the steering. It has to be said that this Fiesta does feel a little more grown up than past Fiestas. This car is really nice and easy to potter about in and is a lot quieter than before making it feel really civilised for this type of car.

Unfortunately, diesel models aren’t quite as sharp or comfy as the petrol units. Also the sportier models such as the ST-Line trim trades some of the sickness for sportiness. However, overall all Fiestas are excellent to drive and this is especially true with the turbo charged three cylinder petrol engine. It provides 100 Break Horse Power (bhp) and although it’s a tiny but sluggish off the mark once you get going then you’ll find that it pulls really eagerly. It also gives off a really endearing noise and the efficiency figures are really impressive too.
